Hey Alexa, play “All of The Lights” by Kanye West. It’s time to rejuvenate and brighten that skin!
Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) that is used to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After just ONE use, our patients will notice significant improvement in the complexion and clarity of their skin! Isn’t that crazy? Almost sounds unbelievable, doesn’t it?
IPL improves the appearance of age spots (red/brown pigmentations), vascular lesions such as spider veins, rosacea (redness), freckles, and sun damage. Common areas treated include the face, neck, legs, hands, and arms. One to three treatment sessions are recommended by our licensed Medical Aestheticians–more sessions yield even better results!

IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light and is a technology that pulls sun damage or hyperpigmentation up to the surface. The pigment darkens post-treatment and within a week or so, it naturally flakes off. IPL is also great for helping the skin metabolize redness and speed up collagen production.
IPL is ideal for those with rosacea, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, or any uneven skin tone.
IPL is one of the shortest and most effective treatments on the market. Post cleanse, our Medical Laser Specialist will go over the area of concern anywhere from 1-3 times followed by moisturizer, SPF, and in some cases, aloe vera gel.
The feeling of Intense Pulse Light is comparable to a rubber band snap. We use a topical gel as well as a cooled tip to help cancel any heat and make the treatment more comfortable. The skin may stay warm post treatment anywhere from 1-3 hours.
Immediately after treatment there will be redness and the skin will feel tight and warm. However the heat will typically dissipate within a few hours. Any pigment will rise to the surface of the skin and become darker and darker until it flakes off. This typically takes around a week for the face and anywhere from 2-3 weeks on the body.
Avoiding sun exposure and any physical activity that causes sweating is important while darkening of the pigment is occurring. Makeup can be worn 48 hours post-treatment. No active ingredients should be used post-treatment for at least 5 days. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!
Discontinue usage of retinol, retin-A, and tretinoin at least 3 days prior to appointment. Any oral or topical medication prescribed by a doctor should be discontinued 2 weeks prior to treatment, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. Must be off accutane for at least 6 months. Skin must also not contain a sunburn. If burning is present the appointment will need to be rescheduled until sunburn is gone and peeling has subsided.
Patients typically see results immediately after all pigment has sloughed off the treated area, after the first treatment. Redness, spider veins, and rosacea can sometimes take 2-3 treatments.
Three treatments are recommended for optimal results at 3-4 weeks apart.
IPL is not safe for all skin types. Too much pigment in the skin can cause hypopigmentation and should only be done on lighter skin tones. Please schedule a consultation with our Licensed Medical Laser Specialists to discuss which laser treatment is best for your skin concerns and skin type.
